Aldi's Lazzio coffee beans are a budget-friendly option for coffee lovers looking for a rich and flavourful brew. The beans are a blend of Arabica and Robusta beans sourced from South America and Asia, which gives them a unique flavour profile that's both bold and smooth.
Upon opening the bag, we were struck by the earthy and nutty aroma of the beans. The beans themselves were dark and oily, indicating a longer roast and a full-bodied flavour. We ground the beans to a medium-fine consistency and brewed them using our espresso machine.

Flavours include a Medium and Dark roast, with Honduras and Columbia (occasionally Peru) offerings an extra $1 per kg. The resulting cup of coffee was surprisingly good for the price. At just $11.99 for a 1kg bag of whole beans, we don't think you can beat the value for money! If you can, we'd love to hear about it! One of the standout features of these beans is their affordability. Compared to other premium coffee brands, Aldi's Lazzio coffee beans are a steal. This makes them a great option for those who enjoy drinking coffee on a daily basis and want to save money without sacrificing taste.
The flavour was strong and robust, with notes of dark chocolate and a slightly bitter finish. While the coffee lacked some of the nuance and complexity of more expensive blends, it more than made up for it with its smooth and satisfying taste.
They can be used in a variety of brewing methods, including drip, pour-over, French press, and espresso. This makes them a great choice for coffee drinkers who like to switch up their brewing methods or who are still experimenting to find their preferred brewing style.

It's worth noting that Aldi's Dark coffee beans are a darker roast (obviously), which gives them their bold and rich flavour profile. However, this also means that they may not be the best choice for those who prefer a lighter, more nuanced coffee. That being said, we found that the beans had a surprisingly smooth finish and lacked the harsh bitterness that can sometimes be associated with darker roasts.

With Aldi's Lazzio coffee beans taking out the Golden Bean award for three straight years, you can trust that you're purchasing good quality beans. The Golden Bean is the world's largest coffee roaster competition.
Overall, we would highly recommend Aldi's Lazzio coffee beans to anyone looking for a budget-friendly coffee option that doesn't sacrifice flavour. While they may not be as complex or refined as more expensive blends, they offer a satisfying and flavourful brew that's perfect for daily consumption.
